Bites on Bonwick is a neighbourhood café tucked into 52 Bonwick Street in Fawkner, a spot where locals often gather for a relaxed breakfast or a casual catch-up over coffee. The vibe here feels comfortably busy, especially on weekend mornings when the space fills with families, friends, and solo patrons easing into the day. It’s clear that the service team keeps things smooth even when the café is buzzing, making it friendly for both regulars and newcomers.

Food-wise, Bites on Bonwick leans into classic brunch favourites with a straightforward, well-executed menu. Dishes like the Eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs on toast are standouts, appreciated for their balance and simple, fresh flavours rather than anything too fussy. Particularly on sunny mornings, the smashed avocado and fluffy pancakes attract those after a comforting, familiar start. For those enjoying a quick lunch or lighter bites, the range of toasted sandwiches and salads offers solid options, while the almond croissant is a notably popular pastry choice.

The coffee here receives consistent praise, holding its own as a strong reason to make the trip. Whether you’re after a picollo, chai latte, or a more indulgent hot chocolate, the baristas aim for a well-rounded cup that pairs nicely with the café’s brunch offerings. Visitors often mention the café’s relaxed, easy-going atmosphere, drawing in everyone from post-gym mates to families bringing young kids, who seem well accommodated with kid-friendly snacks and patient service.

Best times to visit are in the mid-morning on weekends when the space hums with a lively but not rushed energy. The staff manage busy periods deftly, keeping orders flowing and tables turning without feeling impersonal. This is more a place to linger than to dash through, especially if you enjoy the familiarity of good coffee and dependable breakfast staples in a locale that reflects the casual, community-minded feel of Fawkner.

Absolutely top notch service. We were a table of 6 with a 5 year old and the server was so on to it. They were really busy and she managed every table in the place like a total boss. The food was delicious - chicken burger & corn fritters especially. My son LOVED the nutella-filled chocolate croissant and keeps asking to get another one. Great coffee too.

Had a lovely brunch here yesterday. The food and coffee along with the service was top notch. Went home with a couple of cakes and was very disappointed. Both lemon and carrot cakes were hard and stale. Specially the carrot cake tasted extremely bad like it was made weeks ago. Had to throw them in the bin. EDIT: Went back again and got compensated with fresh almond croissant and muffin which tasted great this time. Also got a coffee on the house. Customer service here is next level.

Bites on Bonwick Review I recently visited Bites on Bonwick after a gym session, and it’s a great spot to grab a bite with mates after a long workout. The overall experience was enjoyable, with a couple of small things to note. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict and absolutely loved it. He mentioned the hollandaise sauce was perfectly balanced—not overly sweet, which can sometimes overpower the dish. It complemented the eggs and other elements beautifully. I went with the scrambled eggs on toast, as I was in a bit of a rush. The food was tasty, but I found myself wishing it had come out just a little quicker. That said, the cafe has a nice vibe and is conveniently located, making it an easy choice for a casual post-workout meal. Rating: 4/5 Would definitely return, especially for the quality of the food and the relaxed atmosphere.

Ordered an almond latte over the phone and picked it up — the coffee was absolutely spot on. Smooth, perfectly balanced, and honestly one of the best I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Bites in Bonwick is a refreshing change to the other cafes on the area. The service is awesome and always with a smile. The owners are genuine people that provide a meal that I’m yet to criticise. The atmosphere is always one that provides great vibes. Well done guys, bites on Bonwick is a place where you feel like you’re at home.
